The development area is located in the southern part of Baranya County, in Harkány, 25 km from Pécs and 8 km from the Croatian border. Harkány is one of the most important spa resorts and one of the sunniest settlements in Hungary. The baths, open all year round, are located in a 13-hectare park in the centre of the town. Harkány also has an international sports hall and several sports centres, which, in addition to the services provided by the spa, also serve the training of sports associations and clubs. Villány is less than 20 km east of Harkány. It is one of Hungary's most developed wine-producing regions, famous for its excellent red wines.
The town has three four-star hotels, numerous three- and two-star hotels, guesthouses, private accommodation and campsites. Harkány is typically outstanding in the number of domestic guests, and its history makes it a major sending area for Czech, German, Croatian and other destinations. Annual guest numbers exceed one million.
